Dirty Harry is.......just Dirty Harry.
Having the entire Dirty Harry collection is something we've always wanted and we love it! Clint Eastwoods portrayal of Detective Harry Callahan, a 44 Magnum shooting, wise cracking, hard nosed cop is magnificent. As unorthodox as he is in the ways he goes about catching the bad guys, believe it or not - he's a good cop straight down to the bone. In DIRTY HARRY, he hunts for a serial killer and the punk learns not to mess with Det. Callahan. Do I feel lucky? Well do you punk? In MAGNUM FORCE, he uncovers a group of rogue cops. In THE ENFORCER, he teams up with a female officer and learns a thing or two about his new partner. In SUDDEN IMPACT, Harry goes after a rape victim and gets a big surprise. "Go a head. Make my day." And in THE DEAD POOL, Callahan is on a list none of us wants to be on. Dirty Harry is wonderful to watch and it's filled with wise cracks, action and thrills - everything you want in a great collection. Go ahead, make your day and buy the entire set. You won't regret it. Enjoy.Read full review

The presence of Eastwood in an action role is enough to explain the movie's popularity, but when you see it you discover that the movie has a message with a vengeance. It is loosely based on 1970's headlines, and makes Eastwood a cop who is assigned to find a mysterious killer named Scorpio. The killer has kidnapped and killed various girls, he has tried to extract $200,000 ransom from the city, and in the film's climax he hijacks a school bus. The gimmick is that Eastwood is so filled with hatred for Scorpio that he violates the poor fiend's civil rights. While attempting to find out where a kidnapped girl is, for example, Eastwood gets no less than four amendments wrong. And so the city has to set Scorpio free -- even though they have a murder weapon and a confession.
Eastwood doesn't care; he says to hell with the Bill of Rights and stalks out of the district attorney's office. But when Scorpio hijacks the school bus, it is Eastwood again, who is asked to be bag man and carry the ransom. This time he refuses. He wants Scorpio on his own. We've already seen him twisting Scorpio's broken arm ("I have a right to a lawyer!" Scorpio shouts), and soon we will see him kill Scorpio in cold blood. Then, in a thoughtful final scene, Eastwood takes his police badge and throws it into a gravel pit.Read full review

When a roving madman dubbed the 'Scorpio Killer' terrorizes
San Francisco, hard-boiled cop Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood)-
famous for his take no prisoners approach to law enforcement-
is tasked with hunting down the psychopath. Harry eventually
collars Scorpio in the process of rescuing a kidnap victim, only
to see him walk on technicalities. Scorpio though, can not
stop his spree however and kidnaps a school bus with kids, bringing
Harrys wrath back upon him. The final shoot-out in the movie
is classic- with Harrys use of one of his famous saying- similar
to the 'make my day, punk'-stated in a slightly different manner.
Director Don Siegel made this movie and was also instrumental in
many of Clint Eastwoods early movies (Escape From Alcatraz, Two
Mules for Sister Sara, Coogans Bluff, etc) and Dirty Harry is
one of the best the two made together. This movie will certainly
fill an evenings entertainment and is a mandatory dvd for Clint
Eastwood movie collectors since this is the first of five Dirty
Harry movies.Read full review
