Awesome dual WAN router
I purchased one of these routers about 3 years ago and installed it at a client's location to serve their main T1 line as well as a secondary DSL backup line. It works perfectly. The T1 has gone down several times in the past and the DSL line picks up where it failed. We have outside locations that connect to our main server and they can connect through either Internet connection. It has the ability to set the percentage of traffic you want it to dedicate to each connection and it does a pretty good job of sticking to that. Unfortunately, D-Link has dis-continued this router in the US but you can still get them out of Taiwan (and with a newer firmware). It is an awesome router and I make sure to buy one whenever I hav a location that needs a backup Internet connection. There are a lot of ways to custom configure it depending on your needs. I purchased this latest one (from Taiwan) for another client that needed dual WANs and it is working great. Also, it is very inexpensive for a dual WAN. I've seen othes that cost as much as $8,000 with not much more to offer than this one.Read full review

Best Dual WAN for the money
I love the typical easy D-Link setup. Does everything you would want from a Dual WAN router, except... it does not have fail-back. It DOES have fail-over, but should the primary connection return, you have to restart the router to make it switch back.

One advantage it has over most D-Link Single WAN routers is that you can turn on and off many of the features and configurations without a restart. Big plus.

Those familiar with D-Link's small routers will note that this one takes longer to restart... 30 seconds for this one versus 5 for the others.

I tested the load-balancing feature, but since this can cause issues with secure connections, I chose not to use it. It does work very well and very configurable.

The emailing of alerts for when the device switches from primary to backup does not work, though it will email an alert that it was rebooted.

I have tried the Netgear and Linksys versions and they do not even come close to working properly. For $100.00 + shipping, it's a no-brainer for me.

BTW, this is used in a medium-sized business, with a T-1 primary, a Cable Modem backup, supporting remote access and some web services. It replaces a D-Link DI-808HV that has been performing flawlessly for years.

I hope this helps some of you.Read full review
