A nice place to start with this classic band
If you've heard a few Humble Pie classic tunes on FM radio during your drive home from work and want to find a good "starter" cd to learn and hear a little more from this great classic band then this cd is a really good place to start. You will get all of the popular music surrounded by a group of some of the best songs that I band has ever made. Plus the price to get this can usually be around a couple bucks for a used copy so your wallet doesn't take a hit, check it out, you'll be glad that you did.

Great Classic rock
I had kind of forgotten about Humble Pie. Its funny, because their albums "Smokin'" and "Rocking the Fillmore" were definitely part of the soundtrack of my teenage years. I decided on this cd because I have been happy with other A&M Classics volumes, and it had the main songs I remember.
Hearing these songs brought back what a kick-ass band this was. "C'mon Everybody", "Hot and Nasty", "30 Days in the Hole" and the wonderful concert recording of "I Don't Need No Doctor" are all highlights, with the rock/blues tone of Led Zeppelin mixed with the raw rock and roll of the Faces.
There are a couple of songs I might have replaced, and the sound quality is frequently muddy at best, but its still a fun ride. Highly recommended to old fans or anyone looking for a good feel of what rock in the 70's was all about.Read full review

This is a nice, concise collection of Humble Pie's output for the A&M label and I was glad that it came with appreciative liner notes. It features all of the songs that I would expect to hear on such a compilation and is a nice starting point for the uninitiated. It must be said, though, that at times,Steve Marriott's voice can be a little harsh on the ears.He certainly wasn't known for being a great singer. Many people may not know that this was Peter Frampton's previous group before he catapulted to stardom. There aren't really any hits on it(although "30 Days in the Hole"has received a lot of FM airplay over the years).I'm not sure why it's being marketed on eBay's website as featuring Nazareth since only Humble Pie is on the disc. Both bands do sound somewhat similar, though, and both did record for the A&M label so maybe that's why there's some confusion. There's also another "Classics" set by Nazareth issued by A&M,so if you like this one you may want to consider purchasing that as well.I would recommend this to any fans of early '70s "boogie rock",say fans of Foghat or those intersted in the early days of heavy metal.Read full review
