Big Wednesday Must Own
As an item of merchandise a good digital repro. The special feature commentary by director John Milius is authentic, appropriate and welcomed. As a movie --well-- Z Boys comes close, but the rest of the genre is just inadequate mimicry. For those who get it, purchasing this DVD makes good budgetary sense. That is because there will always be an irresistible craving to revisit Matt, Jack, Leroy, Bear, the Great Swells and Big Wednesday.

MUCH more than just a light-hearted "Surfing Flick"!
This is a very good movie! Gary Busey taught himself to surf in order to effectively play his part in the film. Probably because the impression the movie gives to the unenlightened is that the film's subject is the light-hearted era of 1960s surfing, it has not gotten more attention. But it is so much more. There is the drama surrounding the main characters involving their coming of age, the Vietnam War, and facing the aftermath of bad decisions and a self-destructive life style. Acting is superlative, and the surfing footage IS very exciting! Overall, a very good movie. I highly recommend it.

If you are a surfer this movie is a must see. Visually stunning and the score is second to none. For a movie directed in this time period, the surfing scenes are way ahead of their time.

Big Wednesday, a true surf movie about three friends. so clean.
Such a classic movie with at that time three rising stars, (William Katt, Gary Busey, Jan Michael -Vincen) I have been looking for this movie for years, not only did I find this movie new, but for such a great price! I will cherish this surf movie about three friends for a long time.

Big Wednesday, DVD
I had seen this movie a hundred times before and it just keeps getting better every time. I have been surfing since I was 16, and this movie is the closest to the reality of the surfing world out of any movie I have ever seen. If you have never seen Big Wednesday than you must buy, borrow, or rent this movie as soon as possible. I laughed, I cried, I gave it two thumbs up.
