The Riff Monster
Sepultura's "Beneath the Remains" is perhapes the most headbanging worthy album every created. I defy you to not headbang whilst listening to this thrash masterpiece. Play this to your grandmother or a man of the cloth and they too will start thrashing their head about. Ok, so the production could be a little better, but considering this was recorded and mixed in late 1980's Brazil, I think it sounds decent. Besides, the production does not distract from the focus of the album, the riffs, and does Sepultura know how to churn them out by the boatload. Each song is monster riff after monster riff. Combine that with Igor's fenzied drumming, Max's tortured vocals, Andres' leads (which at times takes on the aural equivalence of a dental drill), and top notch song writting and you have yourself one of the best thrash metal albums in the history of mankind. I recommend this to any fan of not just thrash but any metal. Get ready to break your neck. Read full review

this is one of Sepultura's best album, this and Chaos A.D. are a classic. Max Cavalera and his monsterous voice makes the music very intense !! anyone who loves death metal needs to add this in their collection !!

Proof that the early stuff from any artist is almost aleays better
She's a good one. I recognize Mass Hyponosis from a single of there's but the original instead of live just rocks. Favorite track off it actually.

awesome. just bad ass!
I like the older speed metal of my youth and this was one I didnt have then or now. I like the older albums better than the newer slower ones allthough Chaos AD is still an all time favorite as well as Roots.
