Much better from 3GS but certainly an Apple 'trap'.
iPhone 4 is thinner, shorter and ever so slightly heavier than iPhone 3GS. Gone is the curved plastic back plate, replaced by a flat glass panel and a shiny metal band that wraps around the perimeter of the device. This is the first major redesign since the original iPhone debuted three years ago. The basic design - touchscreen and single front-panel button - is the same as it's always been, but the styling cues, accents, and overall hand feel are markedly changed. Most striking is the screen, which has a new sharpness from its special 3.5-inch Retina display that gives a 960×640 resolution – the highest of any smartphone. The camera, featuring 720p HD video recording, appeared to be much better quality – it has a five-megapixels sensor, compared to three on the 3GS, and features an LED flash that also doubles as a video light when recording.
Running the new 4.0 software and with an A4 Apple processor inside, response times seemed markedly faster than its predecessor.
If you’re a gamer, you will appreciate the addition of a gyroscope to the iPhone’s motion-sensing capabilities, and if you are just a general user, improved battery life that allows up to 10 hours of internet browsing on Wi-Fi means the iPhone will still be lit up and functioning long after the Evo, with its weak battery life, will have shut down.
On the bright side, FaceTime video calls are fantastic, likely because there's no cellular signal involved (you're limited to WiFi calling). Video and audio are great, it's easy to switch between front/rear cameras and landscape/portrait orientation in the middle of a call, and the narcissist in me loves flicking the preview window from corner to corner instead of paying attention to the person I'm FaceTiming with. Apple was incredibly smart to make video calling "just another button" in the standard phone interface, making it much easier to place a video call on an iPhone than a comparable Android device. The limitation with FaceTime, of course, is that for now you can only make video calls between two iPhone 4s. But that's kind of the point, from Apple's perspective.
Usually I wrap up phone reviews by saying - or at least thinking - that a week or two with a new smartphone is hardly enough time to get to know it, let alone be able to tell how it'll hold up over the long haul. In this case I've got the opposite feeling. By now all iPhone owners are familiar enough with the operating system, the iTunes/App Store ecosystem, and the way an iPhone works that a few weeks with iPhone 4 is plenty of time to get to know the thing. The question that remains isn't how well Apple's new phone will hold up over the long haul so much as whether or not Apple will be able to fix the issues that are plaguing the device right out of the gate, or if they'll wind up as part of the cost of being an iPhone user.Read full review

Apple iPhone4 Quick Impressions
The Apple iPhone4 has been a great way to aceess the internet almost as good as a netbook using either an unlocked public WiFi connection or the 3G telephone network. I'm using it with an ATT GoPhone card. You can get 3G internet access with GoPhone and iPhone by changing the iPhone's system cellular data network settings appropriately to use Cinguar settings as described by Cydia online. You can use Cydia online to install the proper APN profile settings to your iPhone4.
The main drawback to the iPhone as an internet web browser is that Flash web pages will not display if they don't serve an HTML only version of the web page too.
Generally I've found the iPhone4 to be superior in quality and construction to all the other smart phones such as HTC and Blackberry when using the phone as a netbook computer. It is fast and has good battery life and a clean easy to read screen. The phone works fine enough for telephone calls too. It's not the absolute best in call quality, but it's as good as any average cell phone in call quality from my observations.

This phone is awesome
I really like the updated physical design of the iPhone 4. It’s thinner and sexier in my opinion. I really like the way the display and back surface go from edge to edge without a bezel for dirt and dust to collect. This phone feels like it has been carved out of a solid block of glass. I love the feel of it in my hand. This baby doesn’t flex, creak or crack when I squeeze it and there are no rattles when I shake it.
The previous iPhone had a great display, but the new iPhone 4′s retina display is just plain gorgeous. It’s true, you can’t see the individual pixels at all. Screen sensitivity remains the same. It’s still easy to scroll, pinch and zoom using your fingers. The iPhone remains my favorite finger friendly display.

It is useful for an active lifestyle
Advantages: 1. Tremendous stability. iPhone 4 devoid of glitches, brakes, reboots and hangs. He will become a reliable friend and helper in dealing with any cases. This is - one of the key factors on which I choose a smartphone. Windows Mobile and Android are strongly lose 2. Speed work is impressive. This - the fastest and bug-free smartphone in the world. Operating system, and gigahertz processor so well balanced that you will only have time to poke around on the screen, all actions are performed almost instantly. 3. Best player and best internet browser make the iPhone 4 leader among functional handheld device. Listen to music and watch page on the Internet - a pleasure. Mediafunktsii (music, photos, etc.) are implemented in the iPhone is much better and nicer than in other devices. 4. Remarkable design smartphone is beyond praise. The device is not ashamed to get out of his pocket. 5. Quality photo and video is simply amazing. Quality for a smartphone - a bomb. 6. The variety and number of applications. Yes, let most of them paid, but you are giving money for quality, stimulate developers to develop the product and receive all future updates (sometimes after a few updates, can change dramatically for the better) for free. In addition, there are some utilities that are distributed free of charge or at a significant discount (though this is followed and the time needed to keep up on sale). IPhone applications do increase the functionality and applicability of the smartphone is literally at times. 7. Build quality - above all praise. This monolithic ingot never fall apart because all the parts are welded together into a coherent whole. No fragile plastic caps and other things. Only high quality materials.Read full review

awesome product very expensive for a phone, needs better cam, fix death grip
Great phone use on Verizon, seamless operating system no freezes or starts & stops like you might get on blackberry or android phones. lots of apps. Touch screen is the best I have found on the market. Reception is great and phone sound quality is great HOWEVER still has death grip issue occasionally if reception is low I dont want a bumper I keep it in my pocket bumpers suck. Emails & texts great, could have an alert light like blackberry to help you SEE if you have missed calls or messages this is important to people who use phones for work. Overall a great phone I would recommend But a new version may come out this summer I hear I would wait just to see if some of these small issues have been resolved. I would not want any other phone.
