Alpha Protocol (Microsoft Xbox 360, 2010)
About this product
|Billed as an "espionage RPG," Alpha Protocol casts you in the role of secret agent Michael Thorton as he embarks on a series of international operations set in Rome, Moscow, Tai Pei, Saudi Arabia, and other exotic locales. From inside computer-equipped safe houses around the world, you'll converse with your handlers, glean intelligence, review dossiers, and receive new missions. What sets Alpha Protocol apart from traditional action games is the level of customization you have over your character and the options you have while interacting with others. Key role-playing features like dialogue trees, skill points, and equipment upgrades are included, with characters who will react in different ways based on your approach and reputation.|
The action takes place from a third-person perspective as you complete objectives however you see fit, depending on the direction of your character. Stealth-oriented spies can complete the entire game without killing an enemy, while destructive types can bring out the body armor and heavy artillery. Action points can be assigned to an assortment of attributes, from stealth and pistols to sabotage and technical aptitude, which all lead to different skills. Cash earned by completing missions can also be spent in multiple ways, from powerful weapons on the black market to hiring mercenaries to purchasing various gun modifications for improving stats in areas like damage, accuracy, recoil, stability, and ammunition capacity.

A taut spy thriller with fantastic story and gameplay. A real win.
If Mass Effect or Dragon Age were spy games, THIS is what they'd be like. The game has a great story about a spy out "in the cold" after being betrayed by his government, trying to clear his name and save the world.
The story changes depending on decisions you make during your missions, and what loyalty you can gain from contacts using various discussion options.
I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of story-driven RPGs.

Great game, genius premise.
This is one of the best games I've ever seen. I'm on my third time playing through, and the content (and story) change a little bit with each time.
If you're wondering how this is an RPG - it's kinda' not. The combat isn't anything like a standard RPG, and the rest of the game doesn't have any remnants of the RPG feel. I assume they made the connection to RPGs in that your character gains "experience points", which can later be used to advance his skill sets, and you can upgrade to new weapons and body armor throughout the game. Thus, if this is an RPG, so is Rainbow Six Vegas, and so are the games in the Hitman series.
Overall, it's an excellent game with a lot of re-play-ability. Think of it as splinter cell, but with a younger character and better people skills.

I like this game a lot. Yes, the graphics might not be "HD" quality but they are still very good for an Xbox 360. This game has received many bad reviews from differnt online sites saying about its flaws adn glitches...yet I'm almost finished with the game and haven't experienced ONE glitch or flaw the ENTIRE game. This game is bascially Splinter Cell meets Assassin's Creed II. A definate buy for Espionage seekers and for people who like Assassin's Creed II and or Splinter Cell. It is really a great game. At the very least rent it!!!!

Very good action in an RPG!!!
This is a game that I rented through the mail from a big name rental company. It was so good for me, that I went ahead and bought a copy!
I got to pick what kind of agent I would play as at the beginning of the game. The "agent" doesn't look exactly like me, but he's close enough. His properties and skills are determined by the class of agent you pick. The agent, as well as the weapons, are customizable and upgradeable as you advance in the game. Story line is all right, starting as a recruit spy. I'm having fun! Hope you do, too!
