Great monitor. Highly flexible GUI. High contrast. Bright. Great value.
The Acer S231HLBID 23" 16:9 LED LCD Monitor, 5 ms is a beautiful, sleek monitor with exceptional contrast and brightness; So exceptional that you will want to use native user controls to adjust the display (It's a bit blue out of the box). Depending on your lighting conditions, you will likely want to warm the color and increase reds and diminish blues. If you work in direct sunlight, then the default settings might actually be good, but once you've tuned it, this monitor is a brilliant, space-saving gem. I have the brightness turned down to 14, contrast at 50; RGB is 57, 50, 43, respectively. I work in a relatively (to some others) dark environment. I really like this monitor. It's great for gaming and general purpose apps. If you run Photoshop or video editing apps, you'll know what to do anyway. I hope this helps prospective buyers. Read full review

This is an outstanding monitor at a terrific price.
1st - this thing is huge! Forget tablets - this is the way to experience the 'Net. Like sitting in an IMAX theater. 2nd - I had some concerns reading other reviews about the image. Yes, it does ship set on "heart-of-the-sun" Bright. And the controls on the monitor do not help much. But, people, open your video card program and make all the tweaks you need there. If you don't know what to do, you probably would not appreciate this monitor in the first place. And color reproduction? My screen saver is a shot of my daughter and eight of her friends in their prom dresses. Every color imaginable. And they look outstanding on this. 3rd - the concerns about tilt, image fall-off at angles, etc. Nonsense. You are going to set this in the one place that works for you and forget it. Just how often are you going to be viewing this while standing up? 4th - no problems with the shipping. No dead pixels. Securely packaged. Easy assembly. If you are 13 or older, this is a breeze. OK - the ON-Off LED is too bright. A small piece of electrical tape and problem solved. 5th - Full disclosure time. I am not much of a gamer. I have some early Medal of Honor games, but not much cutting edge. I don't know how this will handle the very latest. If that's your thing, better test drive monitors in a store. Otherwise, get this but be warned - you will have trouble going back to that 17 inch LCD in the office. 6th - 3 video hookups AND the cables are included! Last - you CAN buy a better monitor. But you will pay a lot more before you see a real difference. Unless you need blazing refresh speeds or built-in speakers (why???), this is a great buy. And if you do, make sure the name has 'BID" in it. The regular Acer units, while good, fall short of their 'BID' models. Read full review

Excellent product, very excited with the bargain I got
This Acer 23" is to replace a 17" Princeton I bought in 2003. Beautiful colors, viewing area is almost 2x the 17", larger range of inputs (DVI, HDMI, VGA). I have 2011 Mac Mini and will use the HDMI direct at 1920x1080HD (32bit) very soon. The present I'm using DVI @ 1920x1080HD (32bit), the picture is flawless and very fast. I plan on using this or larger LED LCD (27") for Poser/ Daz Studio manipulations. Should be exciting.

Great product for the price!
This is a great monitor. Wall-mount capable (though it doesn't come with the hardware for it), and plenty bright. Only complaint is that it is not feasible to adjust or rotate the screen angle. Would have been better if the angle wasn't so fixed.
