Wonderful movie with great performances! It will speak to your heart!
“A Walk on the Moon” is a poignant, sometimes funny, but always heartfelt drama taking place in 1969 during the time of the moon walk, Woodstock, women’s sexual revolution...a time of change and excitement. It’s a story of a floundering marriage that has drifted into complacency and predictability, where Diane Lane (Pearl Kantrowitz) longs for anything new and different. She, her two children, and mother-in-law are on their traditional, 1-week summer vacation in the Catskills (located near Woodstock), and husband “Marty” (Liev Schreiber) comes up on weekends to join them.
Married at a very young age, Pearl’s experiences have been limited to home and family, but this summer will change her life and have a profound effect on her loved ones. The appearance of the handsome, free-spirited Viggo Mortensen, “Walker Jerome,” known as the “blouse man,” excites Pearl as she fingers the colorful, sexy blouses Jerome sells from his mobile “store” parked on the campground. Their ensuing encounters at the “store” arouse all the desires in Pearl that have lain dormant for several years, and it’s not long before they enter into a passionate affair.
Diane Lane’s performance is superb as she plays the part of a conventional wife and mother, and a sensual woman, who embarks upon her own “giant leap” into another kind of life with Mortensen, where she lives out her fantasies at the Woodstock celebration, only to return to earth, once again, where nothing will ever be quite the same for her, or her family.
This movie has wonderful performances not only by Diane Lane and Viggo Mortensen, but also by Liev Schreiber, as Pearl’s husband, who suffers heartbreak and betrayal, but who must choose between pride and a willingness to grow, and Anna Paquin, Pearl’s rebellious and hormonally charged teen-aged daughter, “Alison,” who acts out against her mother in disbelief and anger.
This is a movie about love, loyalty, loss of innocence, change, and forgiveness. It will speak to your heart.Read full review

This will be my fourth copy of this movie...I keep loaning it to friends & they seem to keep it! Wonderful story, finally a movie about a woman who is torn between an average life and an adventurous one...but in this one her husband isn't a jerk...it is just a movie that leaves me feeling warm & fuzzy even thinking about it. The soundtrack is also wonderful!

A walk on the moon
I love this movie. Such a great era. I love the whole innocence of the movie and then the excitement of all of the big changes that are happening in the world. The romance between Pearl and the "blouse man" is sooooooo HOT! Oh my! I also LOVE the music in this movie, they put it together perfectly, songs of the sixties were so passionate, so full of meaning and the songs go perfectly with the movie. Liev Schreiber also plays a great role in this flick, he is so cute. I would consider this as a chick flick, great to watch with you Best friend.

A Walk On the Moon
I've become a BIG Viggo Mortensen fan, after I saw Hildago. I rented this movie to see what it was about. It turned out to be a good little movie. Diane Lane plays a dutifully wife does the "when the cats away the mice will play" with her husband during the family vacation. She meets Viggo, who is a blouse man and has a torrid affair. Diane is Ok in this movie, Viggo IS great and so is the music. The movie is a little melodramatic at times, but I liked it, so I bought it.

My 84 year old mother recently saw Viggo Mortensen in "Eastern Promises" and thought he was, in her words, "smoldering" with Naomi Watts. When I suggested she'd like "A Walk On The Moon", she said she couldn't find it. Guess what she's getting for Christmas? (smile)
This is a visual feast for every woman who has always dreamed of making love under a waterfall!
