A river runs through life
Wonderful movie that really develops characters and has great cinematoghraphy of the wonders that fly fishermen and fisherwomen observe while on their quest for trout.
Metaphors abound in the movie that is about growing up in a home that is headed by a devout minister but has a human side as well, when he takes his boys on the river to fly fish.
That is when the minister lets his hair down so to speak and connects with his boys at a basic level.

'a river runs through it'
the three flyfishing segments and the one segment with the native american/indian girl, salvage the movie., otherwise, cigarettes and alcohol seem to be the main characters., redford fails here.,

This film teaches about life; fishing is the vehicle and the river the road
This DVD appeared to be brand new--not a scratch or fingerprint. The cover was also pristine.
I use this film in my English class to teach writing style--Norman McClean writes with clear, crisp images that reveal spiritual roots via fishing with flies in an epic river. Brotherly love...family first, and rites of passage are also explored.

A River Runs Through It
Set in Montana between 1910 and 1935, the story reflects on the communication gap between two brothers and their minister father, all of whom love fly-fishing. I think this is one of the most visually beautiful movies to stream across the screen in a long time. A simple and powerful movie and a timeless tail that speaks to everyone.

"I am haunted by these waters"
Last line of the movie/book gets me every time!!!! Great story i can relate to probably more than any other story!!! Brad pits character IS my sister. This is a rare love story that both men and wemon can enjoy. I dont like love stories but this movie has so much "real life" in it that unless your paying close attention you wont even realize its a love story!!!! The dad in movie is great, Him and the boys both caught fish but his was the biggest. He said "looks like the lord blessed us all today, But he was particularly good to me!" hahahaha
"Buster wants to go fishing!" another one of my favorite lines.
