The Lexus ES 350 is a mid-size luxury sedan that offers exceptional comfort, safety, and performance. The ES has a remarkably smooth ride that is the result of a well-designed cabin and an engine that is nearly silent. Five passengers can be easily accommodated, and there is adequate room for larger or taller adults. The ES provides numerous convenience features such as an oversized console storage bin, dual storage pockets, and ergonomic cupholders. Like every Lexus, the ES bears a strong resemblance to the flagship LS model.
Equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6, the Lexus ES 350 produces a solid 272 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque. Every ES model is equipped with a six-speed electronically-controlled sequential shift transmission that also has a manual shift option. The EPA has certified the ES as an ultra low-emissions vehicle and Lexus includes an Eco indicator which promotes more environmentally-sensitive driving. Fuel economy is estimated at 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. The 2011 ES can now use standard 87 octane gas which helps reduce annual fuel costs. The ES 350 was designed by the Lexus in-house design team and is manufactured in Kyushu, Japan.
Lexus is the luxury division of Toyota Motor Corporation, and the Lexus ES 250 was one of two early models that debuted in 1989. The ES 250 was equipped with a 2.5-liter V-6 that produced 156 horsepower. The second generation was completely redesigned and released in 1991. The engine was upgraded and the platform was longer and wider. An appealing sleek and aerodynamic exterior helped boost sales considerably and secured the model in the Lexus lineup. Subsequent generations have undergone continued refinements in luxury and improvements in safety, handling, and technology.
Since the Lexus ES is an upscale vehicle, it has many fashionable amenities such as front and side airbags, 10-way power front seats including driver memory, leather trim, dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, a power moonroof, and the Lexus premium audio system. The ES has three option packages that offer escalating levels of features, including a voice command navigation system with traffic, backup camera, heated and cooled front seats, Lexus Enform emergency services, and the Mark Levinson premium 14-speaker sound system. Lexus also includes its Parking Assist feature on the ES as well as adaptive front lighting, 17-inch alloy wheels, and integrated foglamps.
The Lexus ES has won numerous awards, including the U.S News and World Report Best Upscale Car for the Money" in 2009, Consumer Reports highest ranked upscale car in reliability in 2006, and the J.D Powers award for most appealing entry luxury car in 1997, 2001, and 2007.
