The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is a mid-size luxury SUV. Range Rover was previously about off-road performance as well as the offerings of a luxury sedan. The Range Rover Sport is the first time Land Rover has entered into the arena of high performing SUVs. It offers sporty road manners along with the luxury that is alway offered by Land Rover without sacrificing off-road performance. It is the smallest and most city-road-friendly SUV in the Land Rover line-up.
This SUV has a LR-V8 5.0 liter naturally-aspirated engine, with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2010 model has 25 percent more power at 375 hp and 20 percent more torque than the previous generation's 4.4 liter naturally-aspirated engine at 375 lb. ft. The maximum speed is 130 mph, going from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Maximum towing is 7,716 lbs. The Range Rover Sport is assembled in Solihull, United Kingdom, in production since 2005.
From 2005-2009 there were no changes to the vehicle. In 2010, it received a minor facelift, including a more aerodynamic front end. The SUV got new headlights, bumper and grille, with most of the changes on the interior. The 2010 model offered 50% less buttons, a new steering wheel and new seats, with leather more apparent. Three new engines also debuted in 2010.
The interior of the Range Rover sport offers many luxury amenities. Some of the features include push button start, mood lighting lit with LED white lights, electric sun roof and Memory Pack. Memory Pack allows up to three drivers to program their preferred position of driver's seat, mirrors, and electric steering column height and reach. It also has waterfall lighting, automatic climate control, Bluetooth telephone connectivity, nine speakers, illuminated vanity mirrors and Premium Hard Disc Drive Navigation.
In 2010 for the 5th year in a row the Range Rover Sport won Automotive Lease Guide's Residual Value Award in the Best Luxury Utility Vehicle category. That same year the Range Rover Sport won New England Motor Press Association's Winter Vehicle Award in the Best in Class-Premium Sport Utility Vehicle/Crossover category. It also ranked number one in Motor Trend's comparison of luxury SUVs. In 2011, Range Rover Sport won Caravan Club's Towcar of the Year Award.
