About the 2003 Audi TT

The Audi TT is a two-door compact sports car that seats four comfortably and offers superior fuel economy in coupe or roadster models. Manufactured by Audi Hungaria Motor Kft for the American market, the TT delivers solid performance with its 2.0 liter turbocharged engine and six-speed S-Tronic manual transmission. Sleek, aggressive exterior lines combine with surprisingly good fuel economy to create a performance vehicle with street rally visual appeal. Not intended as a family vehicle, the Audi TT is short on passenger space and cargo capacity, but makes up for it in handling and curb appeal.

Under the hood, the Audi TT boasts a 2.0 turbocharged direct injection four-cylinder engine with intercooler that delivers 211 horsepower from 4300 to 6000 rpm. With a top speed of 130 mph, the Audi TT gives drivers and passengers a smooth ride with the Audi Magnetic Ride system that allows the vehicle to grip the road smoothly and advanced suspension with all-wheel drive versatility. The TT offers superior fuel economy in a sports car with 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg for highway driving and can manage 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds.

Since its debut in spring 1994, the Audi TT has been turning heads and winning the hearts of automobile enthusiasts. The original TT was offered from 1994 to 2006; it incorporated the exclusive Electronic Stability Programme for improved handling and featured the same powertrain as many of the comparably-sized Volkswagens then on the market. In 2003 the TT saw a major upgrade in its transmission with the addition of a new six-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox system. The Audi TT Mark 2 was redesigned and released in 2006 as a two-door hatchback with a wider wheel base and sharper exterior lines. Audi has also released variants of the TT model for racing and show use, including the TT Clubsport Quattro and the TTS Coupe.

The Audi TT is available in two trim levels, the Premium Plus and the Prestige. Automatic climate control, power front seats, Bluetooth connectors, leather wrapped steering wheel, and Homelink functionality are standard in both packages, but the Prestige also includes a Bose premium sound system, Nappa leather seats, and the MMI Navigation System that provides real-time traffic information along with a six-CD changer.

The original Audi TT was named North American Car of the Year in 2000 and received Ten Best honors from Car and Driver in both 2000 and 2001. The Mark 2 release has earned its share of kudos as well; it was named World Design Car of the Year in 2007, Top Gear's Coupe of the Year for 2006, and snagged Autobild's Most Beautiful Car design award for 2006 as well. ...
