For its new flagship, Aston Martin brings back a familiar name: the Vanquish.
Available in early 2013, the all-new 2014 Vanquish will replace the DBS at the top of the Aston Martin food chain. We were fortunate enough to take a look at the new Vanquish this past weekend at an exclusive preview event held at the Monterra Estates, near Pebble Beach, CA.
The striking new exterior design is still very much in keeping with the current line of Aston Martin models. Like the DBS, there is a noticeable quantity of carbon fiber on display throughout the exterior, including the front spoiler and side mirror pods. In fact, the Vanquish now has a body made completely of carbon fiber, although you wouldn’t know it due to the brilliant paint job.
Like other Astons, a potent 6.0 L V12 resides under the hood, although the engine is a new design that shares little with the current engine found in the DBS. Output has grown to 563 hp and 457 lb-ft torque, which should provide for 0-60 acceleration in about 4 seconds.
With exterior dimensions that are a bit larger than the DBS, the Vanquish offers more interior room and luggage space. A 1,000-watt Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 15-speaker audio system and a Garmin sat-nav system also come standard.
Base price for the Vanquish will be $279,995, only a few thousand more than the current DBS. Although not the fastest car for the money, the Vanquish promises an exquisite driving experience, as well as being one of the most visually stunning cars on the road.
