eBay Listing: 1986 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur

Classics  /   /  By Derek Mau

Riding around in a Silver Spur has a special European elegance, but this Rolls Royce has a special purpose that is different from the other luxury coaches listed on eBay Motors. We discovered that proceeds from the sale of this low-mileage 1986 Silver Spur will go towards building a new state-of-the-art animal shelter on land near Iowa Western Community College that was provided by the city of Council Bluffs.

Anne Hawk, who is on the board of directors for Midland Humane Society, donated her car in support of the campaign to raise $3.2M for the new animal shelter. A new facility will address the immediate and future needs for many animals who require refuge, care, and shelter while waiting to be adopted into a loving, caring home.

Anne wanted to help and was ready to let the car go, she said. “I bought the car for fun, and I’ve had my fun with the car”

Anne’s love of animals goes back to her childhood. “My dad has always been into animals since I was a little girl, so I just grew up with a lot of animals,” she said.

Hawk has always been an automotive enthusiast, according to the society. As the daughter of trucking services entrepreneur Jim Hawk, she knows more than a little about what’s under the hood.

The Silver Spur is a classic European car with decades of traditional styling dating back to the company’s origins in 1903. In 1980 Rolls-Royce made major design improvements both inside and out, while keeping a classic look of European charm.

Anne’s car has only 35,000 miles on it. It has an 6.8L V8 engine, 3-speed automatic transmission and Bosch fuel-injected double carburetor. She is only its second owner.
