eBay Listing: 1973 Ford Bronco 4×4

Classics  /   /  By Jim Pickering

Square Broncos have a huge following, as they’re simple, rugged, and had a long production run. But most Broncos for sale today have had some sort of modification from stock – either a lift or cut fenders to fit larger tires, or bigger engines for more torque while out on the trail. So original-looking Broncos like this one are a relatively rare sight.

The Bronco, which entered production in 1966, was Ford’s first small SUV. It was aimed squarely at the market share that was at the time being dominated by the Jeep CJ and International Scout. Thanks to the Bronco’s simplicity, 4×4 capabilities, and short wheelbase, it became a popular off-roader quickly, and sales were strong until the truck-based Chevrolet Blazer came along and changed the market in 1969.

This Bronco is a 1973 model, which was the first year for the optional automatic transmission. It’s also fitted with a 302-ci V8, dual exhaust, limited slip axles, power steering, AM radio, chrome bumpers, and the Explorer package. The restoration included a repaint in correct Grabber Blue, and it comes complete with a Marti Report documenting all its original options. It has a great look overall – almost like it just came off the showroom floor.

A total of 4,799 1966-1977 Ford Broncos have sold on eBay Motors over the past several years. Average prices have ranged from $11,500 to nearly $20k depending on condition and options, and this example certainly has a lot going for it. See the listing here.

I remember when the Bronco entered the first line of production back in 1966. My family was decent sized, about 6 of us. At the time, this was Ford’s first small SUV, we were excited to buy one. Seeing one in this condition and state definitely brings back memories.

We have a 1978 Ford Bronco XLT with original paint. Engine runs great, A/C works great. Has cab. Interior is in excellent condition. Not one dent or rust spot. Has 50 thousand miles. Has been garaged for entire time. Single owner. What do you think it is worth?
