eBay Listing: 1969 Chevrolet El Camino SS 396

Classics  /   /  By Chad Tyson

This ’69 El Camino is a great balance of utility and tire-melting power. It has the matching-numbers 396-ci engine, but non-original (still correct) Turbo 400 and 12-bolt rear. It’s just the thing to haul that new dishwasher home before heading out to the drag races.

Starting in 1969, the SS 396 was no longer a submodel, but reverted to an option package. This makes true SS cars hard to identify. The cowl tag identifies the Monaco Orange (code 72) to be correct, and that color was exclusive to the SS 396. Dayonta Yellow (code 76) was the other color exclusive to the SS 396 package. Also correct is the blacked out grille background.

The interior here is complete and relatively clean, and under the hood is much more so. “This is a turn-key car, ready for a road trip when you are.” The bright orange is a color-correct respray. Included with the sale but separate from the car are five original SS wheels. I’d leave the centerlines on, as they look fantastic.

In the last year 33 1969 El Caminos sold on eBay Motors. Good-condition examples averaged over $10k, while excellent ones were at $17k. The SS 396 is the most desirable option on these cars and can add a significant premium. Click here to see the auction listing.

I listed my 1949 Dodge Rod or custom 4 times and had a lot of hits. I hope it will this time. But way dose it take so long for it to show up on the sit. Will I think it most take a lot of time to put all the thing in the right place. Keep up the good work ebay auto.
