eBay Listing: 1965 Meyers Manx

Classics  /   /  By Chad Tyson  /  By Chad Tyson

Want a lot of fast, off-road fun? Bruce Meyers’ creation is the original fiberglass dune buggy. It spawned many imitators, with an estimated 300 companies producing 250,000 copies and near copies. And for good reason — the Meyers Manx beat Corvettes and Cobras in its class at Pike’s Peak Hill Climb and won 39 of 41 slalom races.

This Manx underwent a restoration recently, including all new parts and the Viper Red paint. The body appears solid with no visible fiberglass cracks. It sits on a ’73 Volkswagen pan with a 2,110-cc engine from FAT Performance. Dual Webers and oil cooler complete the power package, and only 7,200 miles have been covered since the build, so it’s all still fresh. The front disc brakes are new and will go a long way in stopping the fiberglass buggy as you tear through off-road courses.

Not many genuine Meyers Manxes are available to sell on eBay Motors, as just 5,280 were produced. The seller lists this example with a Buy It Now for $22,500, but will look at best offers. Click here to see the auction listing.
