eBay Listing: 1965 Buick Skylark Gran Sport Convertible

Classics  /   /  By Chad Tyson

Buick introduced the Gran Sport package into the Skylark line up as an option mid-1965 model year. It brought a lot of grunt and attitude to the plush intermediate; not unlike the GTO package did for Pontiac’s LeMans. A 401-ci “Wildcat 445” V8 wedged between the inner fenders pumped out 325 horsepower and a massive 445 lbs-ft of torque. Premium pump gas is required for the high 10.25:1 compression ratio.

The seller says he “freshened up” this white over red example during his five-year ownership. The convertible top is only four years old. The front bumper was replated and stainless wheel arch molding refinished. I would revert back to the stock wheels (included with the sale) as the modern Coys are too big for my taste. But that modern stereo can stay.

I only see a couple of minor issues here. Under the rear seat is some foam dust, so the seat foam is probably pretty much gone. There is a tear on the far left side of the dash pad, and the carpet is worn in a couple spots as well. Underside shots reveal clean frame rails with only tiny bubbles of rust at the corners of the doors.

Nine 1965-67 GS Skylarks sold on eBay Motors in the last few years. Examples averaged from $10k to over $18k for those in good to excellent condition.
