eBay Listing: 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport

Classics  /   /  By Chad Tyson

Buick’s 1965 Riviera was the last of the original first-gen cars, and also the most attractive. One-year-only clamshell headlamps cleaned up the front end, and bumper-integrated taillamps did the same for the rear. Personal luxury was given a major power boost with the first-year Gran Sport option. It added the dual four-barrel, 360-hp V8, larger exhaust, Positraction, and exterior cues.

Everything is said to work on this restored example. And it should, as the seller has “invoices totaling over $100,000 on the work performed on this car.” Nearly everything was redone three years ago. A shop that does the same for Pebble Beach contestants laid down miles-deep black paint in single stage. The same quality approach was taken on the upholstery, carpet and headliner.

The car does show a bit of wear, but the seller drives it every few weeks to ensure everything stays sorted out, and the factory a/c is said to blow ice cold.

In the last year, 19 ’65 Buick Rivieras sold on eBay Motors. Good examples averaged $13k and excellent ones averaged over $22k. This one has soared past those numbers, and for good reason.
