eBay Listing: 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air

Classics  /   /  By Jim Pickering

There’s a lot to be said for classic cars fitted with modern performance parts. They offer the best of both worlds – hot rods that actually turn, stop, and can handle being driven anywhere in modern traffic, all while maintaining that cool vintage look.

This Bel Air Bubble Top has been completely redone inside and out, and a lot of the original mechanical components were tossed in favor of new technology. Under the hood is an LS1 V8 that the seller says has just over 5,000 miles, coupled to a T56 six-speed manual transmission. The combination is good for 23 mpg in sixth gear on the highway – and it ought to offer plenty of power, too, since it’s the same basic combo that Chevrolet used in the C5 Corvette from 1997 through 2004.

Other changes from stock include Corvette disc brakes on all four corners, 18- and 20-inch Billet Specialties rims, Air Ride suspension, and more. The chassis was completely restored and painted in red oxide primer, the interior was completely redone, all the exterior trim was polished, and both front the front and rear bumpers were rechromed.

Over 6,000 1961-1964 Chevrolets have been sold on eBay Motors over the past several years. Prices have averaged around $14k for decent original examples – although changes like the ones made to this car can raise values significantly. See this one’s listing here.
