This ’61 bubbletop Impala looked very appealing at its opening bid of $16,499 and no reserve. I love the sleek, one-year-only sheet metal on the ’61 Chevys, best realized on the pillarless “Sport Coupe,” and this one seems turn-key ready to cruise.
We just featured a ’62 Impala bubbletop low-rider last week, but this one is a completely different animal. It’s essentially a stock car, except for dress-up components on the 283 and an upgrade Turbo 350 transmission. It wears one repaint that the seller describes as “very respectable at any distance” with “no orange peel.” The glass and trim are all said to be original and “fantastic.” The seller says he has over $11k in receipts for recent work.
