eBay Listing: 1955 Willys CJ5 Jeep

Classics  /   /  By Tony Piff

Stand within earshot long enough, and you’ll hear me fantasize out loud about commuting to work in a vintage Jeep—no doors, no top, no roll-cage, windshield folded down flat on the hood. This 1955 Willys CJ5 is exactly the one I’d buy.

It’s had lots of recent mechanical attention, including a new wiring harness, a lot of new electrical components, carb kit and rebuilt brakes. The seller says “everything works,” including lights, flashers, cigarette lighter — even the vacuum windshield wipers!

Julep Green is a refreshing change from the Olive Drab that these always seem to end up wearing. It’s a correct color for the year, and the seller suggests much of it could be the original factory finish. There are a few small rusty spots, but the metal looks solid overall, and I am absolutely digging the “Jeep patina,” as the seller calls it.

1,602 1944-68 CJs sold on eBay Motors in the past three years. Decent examples averaged $4,500 to $7,500 , making this one’s $7,300 buy-it-now price look absolutely reasonable.
