2013 BMW M5

Classics  /   /  By Tony Piff

The M5 represents the continually advancing high point for the notion of a true four-door sports car. Not just fast, not just sporty, not just powerful — but a hard-driving sedan purpose-built for the experience of performance.

Traditionally, this meant high-revving naturally-aspirated powerplants, growing over the decades from the first-gen E35 3.5-liter I6 to the E60 5.0-liter V10. In 2011, BMW signaled a new trajectory for the M5, when it fitted the car with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8.

The 2013 M5 puts out 560 hp and 502 ft-lbs of torque, and it will hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. The adjustable 7-speed dual-clutch automatic offers a manual mode and smorgasbord of driving dynamics, from elegant to brutal, and as our man Justin Bell pointed out in last week’s episode of World’s Fastest Car Show, you can still get an old-fashioned stick shift with clutch.

There are plenty of new 2013s on eBay Motors for about $100k. This 2013 M5 is very nicely optioned with the Executive Package, Driver Assistance Package, Bang & Olufson sound system, full leather, heads-up display, 20-inch alloys, and an MSRP of $110k. It was briefly owned and is now offered at a buy-it-now of $99,950.
