Absolutely the best of show at Wekfest LA, in our humble opinion, is this matte orange Nissan GT-R® (R35). This custom GT-R® features a one-off Ben Abutin High End Performance carbon fiber aero kit that ties its lineage to the Z with a pointier front-end. The custom molded wide-body kit is responsible for adding 2 inches of width front and rear. Simple and beautiful, we love it!
Rolling on Nitto Invo tires wrapped around 20-inch SSR Executor wheels, this 2009 GT-R® only has 19,000 miles and was built to be a show car first and foremost. A few notabletouches include a custom carbon fiber hood, APR Performance fiber rear wing custom made to match the body kit, Craftsquare racing mirrors imported from Japan, and custom painted factory Brembo brake calipers.
Godzilla is an appropriate moniker for Jesse’s GT-R®. Underneath the hood, the factory intake was replaced with a GReddy RX intake manifold and Cobb Tuning down and Y-pipe. Exhaust flow smoothly exits through an HKS Hi-Power exhaust system Nissan Stagea. Cobb Tuning did the final tuning and dyno’d 600hp measured at the wheels (approximately 750hp at the crank)
We took a peek inside and discovered even more details that helped propel this car to 17 car show wins — including 2012 Best of Show at Wekfest LA and SF last year. Custom install of a bumpin’ 1500 watt Sony Xplod audio system with 19-speakers and 9 display monitors keeps the occupants entertained. Holding the driver and passenger safely are Bride racing seats and 4-point Takata racing harnesses. A nice touch connecting the driver with his machine is the DCT Motorsports custom steering wheel purchased on eBay.
Congratulate Jesse on a job well-done the next you see him at a SoCal car show. Development of his GT-R® took over two years and some serious help from his sponsors – Nitto tires, DTM Auto Body Shop, Cobb Tuning, and BASF.
