1976 BMW 2002

This 1976 “M2” 2002 is said to be a two-enthusiast-owner car with lifelong documentation. It had an S-14 engine from an ’88 E30 M3 professionally installed and has been enjoyed as a track car for some time now. The post-race maintenance routine described inspires confidence: after each race, the car would get a full fluid change; brake components were always swapped at 50%; and plugs were replaced every three events.

The engine has reportedly seen less than 100k miles and was rebuilt at swap, less than 15k miles ago, and the rest of the mechanicals are full race-spec. The interior sports dual five-point harnesses, with a racing carpet kit in the back seat, but the original leather looks to be in good condition, and the original leather rear seat is included with the sale.

A total of 1,827 BMW 2002s sold on eBayMotors in the past two years, with the best examples fetching about $11k. By comparison, just 3 M2 2002s sold during that same time, and averaged $17k. You can safely assume that any 2002 surviving today has been driven hard all its life. The little cars are simply too much fun. This one sounds exceptionally well sorted, ready to be used in anger on road or track.
