eBay Listing: 1946 Dodge COE

Classics  /   /  By Chad Tyson

Nothing represents Americana like an old pickup driving slowly along the farm fence, or through an orchard. And slowly is the only way you’ll be moving in this 1946 Dodge COE. The 228-ci straight six is rated at only 99 horsepower. But this truck is so cool I don’t think you’ll care.

COEs are rare these days, as most were hard workers when they were new. Now, most are long gone. And the majority of COEs you see these days tend to be either Fords or Chevrolets, so this Dodge is a bit of an oddball. It’s sure to grab attention in parades or as an advertisement for your local business.

The interior is in remarkable condition, as expected for a restored example. The paint and chrome both appear in excellent shape, too. The flatbed came from an early ’40s Chevrolet and has been shortened. Recessed hardware will keep anything from snagging during loading, but I can’t imagine why anyone would want to scratch that wood.

Of course, if originality isn’t your thing, you could always fit a Cummins turbo diesel into this rig and go to work pulling stumps out of the ground.

The seller embedded a video walk around in the listing. In addition to close up views of the interior, exterior and underneath – if you watch through to the end, you can see the seller fire it up and drive it off.

Just a dozen 1946 Dodge pickups sold on eBay Motors in the past year, but none were COEs. The best examples averaged over $10k, but did not appear to be nearly as nice as this COE. Click here to see the listing.
