WELCOME TO MY AUCTION

PLEASE NOTE: EBAY'S SHIPPING CALCULATOR IS OFTEN WRONG AND ALWAYS TOO HIGH, BUT THEY INSIST WE USE IT. PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR AN EXACT SHIPPING QUOTE...I USE THE USPS CALCULATOR AND CAN GET A MUCH BETTER RATE IN MOST CASES.

Welcome to my little home on Ebay. Here you will find unique and original accent pillows newly created by me with fabulous and often rare vintage and antique fabrics. I make most of my pillows super large so they become gorgeous focal points and add that perfect finishing touch to your decorating. Whichever era of design you have chosen for your home, from Victorian to modern, and everything in between, you will soon find it here.

The fabulous fabric used for this pillow is a heavy winter weight cotton barkcloth that dates to the 1940s. What we have come to call barkcloth today was a particular group of fabrics manufactured from the 30s through to the late 50s that have varying textures, but excluding flat weave cottons with a smooth texture. Some barkcloth is lighter weight with a flat but not smooth weave. Some have a deep waffle type texture, and some like this one have the classic thick nubby texture that used to be called cuddle or pebble cloth.

The design displays a gorgeous bouquet with roses, hibiscus, tulips and peonies in soft tones of pink, blue and yellow. This bouquet sits against a cream and green stripe ground that has a stylized leaf design. The fabulous green in the background is the softest shade of sage and I have to add, one of the rarest. For some unknown reason fabric manufacturers of this era used just about every color often, except green. I have very few green background barkcloths in my collection. I love them, but they are just so hard to find.

I finished this pillow with a Victorian style tassel trim all the way around.

The reverse side is a contemporary jacquard fabric with elegant French style scrolly acanthus leaves, and I have made an envelope style opening so you can remove the insert easily when cleaning. This pillow is large, measuring approximately 19 1/2" x 18" not including the tassel trim.

A feature that has been unique to my pillows for many years now, this is completely lined front and back with new cotton which stabilizes the fabrics, and helps reduce day to day stress. It will extend the life of this pillow so you can enjoy it for many years to come. It is very carefully constructed so you will have a true heirloom quality creation for the future.

Tucked inside is one of my custom sized inserts that has been cut to fit your pillow cover perfectly. My pillows are always large and plump. I fill my inserts with the best fiber fill available and very slightly over stuff them. This is because all fillings, no matter the quality, tend to *settle* after some use and by adding a little more, my pillows retain their shape and comfort. However, if you prefer your pillows with a more relaxed look just email me before I ship it and I will remove a little of the filling.

I have provided many pictures of this pillow from every angle, so you can clearly see the quality of the item you are bidding on. Please be patient if they take a little time to load.

This fabulous barkcloth pillow is the perfect finishing touch for any shabby romantic, vintage chic home.

Most of the barkcloth I use has had a past life as a drapery panel. As collectors of barkcloth know, at least one out of every three panels you buy is likely to be unusable due to dry rot, holes, stains, dye runs (from incorrect cleaning), general weakness etc. I carefully undo seams and pleats, remove all the sewing threads, soak them several times in my super duper magic cleaning mix of commercial and home cleansers, then put them through my washer and dryer. Many do not hold up to all of this and end up on my increasing stack of pretty but unusable fabrics. Only the ones that come out almost pristine are used for my pillows and totes. Simply put, I go through all the pain and loss of restoring these fabrics so you don’t have to. Then use my skills to create beautiful pillows and totes for you to enjoy. I use the best and most sought after barkcloth designs and make my pillows larger than almost all you will find on Ebay. Obviously more fabrics, linings, fillings and trims are used and so my prices are a little higher, however I encourage you to compare with others and I’m sure you will find them to be great quality and value.

As I approach my 14th year on Ebay I would like to take a moment to extend a warm and heartfelt THANK YOU to all my amazing customers, who have made it possible for me to build and maintain a successful business in this wonderful new selling arena. The words *thank you* seem inadequate. I have been blessed with an outstanding group of repeat customers from around the world, and am constantly humbled by your feedback and emails. Many, many thanks from the bottom of my heart...you are the BEST!!

This auction is for the one vintage fabric pillow described and shown above only.

IMPORTANT

I welcome new members to Ebay….we were all new sometime. But if you have less than 10 positive feedback or excessive negatives you need to contact me before you bid so I can clarify the buying rules with you and make sure you understand your legal obligations regarding transactions. I reserve the right to cancel your bid if you do not contact me first. I will also have ebay cancel the transaction if you choose to go ahead with one of my buyitnow items without contacting me first. Thank you for your understanding.

Please read my message regarding shipping costs. The amount quoted at the top of this listing will be for priority mail. Often ebay's shipping calculator is wrong which is why I ask you to wait for my invoice but do remember, most of my pillows are very large and weigh a lot, which is why I also provide a parcel post rate which you can find at the bottom of this listing. Because of the size of the large pillows I use a box that measures 21" x 16" x 7". I do not squeeze them into small boxes and the post office charges more for large packages. I can usually get a better rate for shipping if you wait for my invoice.

PAYMENTS...

Payments must be made within 10 days. You will find me to be very reasonable regarding payments. I feel 10 days is a very generous time limit, HOWEVER if you are having some kind of difficulty or would like to make further arrangements all you need do is contact me and discuss this. I am more than happy to accommodate you with a lay-away plan…COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY TO GOOD BUSINESS ON EBAY. If no payment or communication is received within 10 days I will lodge a non-paying-bidder dispute.

SHIPPING

Because my pillows are usually large I will always offer you the choice of shipping priority or parcel post. Parcel post takes a few more days but is sometimes significantly lower in cost. It is definitely something to consider if you are buying more than one tote or pillow.

I have a large family I cannot get to the post office every single day. I usually ship twice a week, however if you are in a hurry to get your item please email me and I will do my best to send your item within 24hrs of payment. Again, communication is the key.

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you find a special treasure to fall in love with here.
