LOBELIA HERB  3.5 OZ 
 
 

A marvelous herb, it is rare to find a person who is sensitive to it.  One of the most extensively used herbs and is used mainly as an emetic or in pulmonary complaints.

 

PROPERTIES: antispasmodic, emetic, nervine, expectorant, stimulant

 
 

Lobelia (Lobelia inflata)

 

·        reduces palpitation of the heart

 

·        fine in the treatment of all fevers (rub on chest and back)

 

·        in large doses it is an excellent emetic and relaxant

 

·        in small doses it is a good antispasmodic and stimulant

 

·        excellent in the treatment of asthma (rub between shoulder blades and on chest)

 

·        relieves spasms (rub on body, drops in mouth)

 

·        good for croupe and respirator problems

 

·        good expectorant that helps remove obstructions and congestion throughout the body

 

·        enhances the effects of other herbs

 

·        encourages flow of oxygenized blood

 

·        poultice for ringworm, bruises, insect bites, etc.

 
 
 
   
SUGGESTED DOSAGE:   Due to the many ways Lobelia can be used, dosages vary.  Convulsions: ¼ tsp initially, more if needed.  Emetic: 1 tbsp, more if needed.  Asthma: 1 tbsp to start then ½ tsp three times a day.  There are several good articles on Lobelia describing its used and dosages.  Good for lockjaw when combined with ladyslipper and scullcap.  Teething: rub a small amount on gums.  Colic: rub on stomach.  Back pain: use with Balm of Gilead Ointment or Arnica ointment.
