JEMEZ PUEBLO ANGEL BY AWARD WINNING NATIVE AMERICAN POTTER: CAROLINE SANDO This Jemez Pueblo pottery angel was created by Native American potter, Caroline Sando. The figurine are detailed with turquoise nuggets. The angel measures approximately 5" tall x about 3.5" wingspan. The base measures just under 3" diameter. This hand coiled angel was created using clay gathered from the grounds of the Jemez Pueblo of New Mexico. The pottery is hand painted with all natural slips and was fired outdoors as is traditional. This is an impressive Nativity set without any chips or cracks. Caroline Sando was born into the Jemez Pueblo of New Mexico on 12/14/63. She is the daughter of Irene Phyllips Herera of the Jemez Pueblo and Willard Phyllips Spokane of the Willipine Tribe. She was raised by her Grandmother, Andrea Tsosie. She was taught by her mother and grandmother to create traditional Jemez Pueblo pottery. She is a third generation potter who has won first place awards at the Indian Market of Santa Fe. She has exhibited at the Heard Show, Arizona State Museum Show and the Colorado Show. Caroline's work is on display at the Native American Indian Museum in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
