First Print: Save Bread for the Soldiers
The first print in the set is a new, high quality reproduction print of a charming 1916 French poster print that is one of a series done by the schoolchildren of France exhorting the French people to conserve food and drink to be available for the French soldiers serving on the front lines.
In stark, simple country-like style, the young artist shows a table with a patterned cloth on which rests a simple loaf of bread—browned and baked to perfection. A slice, already cut, rests beside the loaf. Who could possibly need anything else? Surrounding the central, oval image of the bread is an ornate border of flowers and other design elements.
Title: Ne pas gaspiller le pain est notre devoir.
Translation of title: Our duty is not to waste bread.

Second Print: Proud French Hen.
In addition, this remarkable set includes a large, new, high quality reproduction print of a poignant, charming and humorous 1916 French poster print that is one of a series done by the schoolchildren of France exhorting the French people to conserve food and drink so the French soldiers serving at the front could have them. The title (translated below) makes the poster.
In a primitive, country-like style, the young artist shows a very self-satisfied French hen atop what can only be described as a mountain of eggs. This is one of the greatest chicken posters we have ever found and the title is so perfect. It is exactly as a child would envision it.
Title: Je suis une brave poule de guerre, je mange peu et produis beaucoup.
Translation of title and caption: Let's take care of the poultry. I am a fine war hen. I eat little and produce a lot.
