16-pc Boutique Szalasi W. GERMANY Mid-1960s Miniature Room Box Furniture & Doll

Description

Very rare to find with no damages and no broken trim, Boutique Szalasi wooden 1 inch = 1 foot dollhouse furniture is fancifully hand-decorated with roses in pastel colors, pale-green leaves and golden swirls of raised plaster pastiche. All thirteen pieces and the roombox-back have a round red & gold foil label with cherub logo and “Boutique Szalasi” within the cherub’s ribbon and “MADE in W. GERMANY” curved underneath. Labels on the Vanity & back wall read “All articles are of wood, artistic handwork” – one label in English, the other in German. All furniture has perfect cream enamel paint and pastiche decorations, except for two chips on the Floor Candelabra (chips can be hidden at the back of the piece or against the wall).

The three-wall roombox is complete with ten pieces of furniture plus three c1970 Erna Meyer dolls dressed in 18th century finery.

BED = measures 7 ½” long, 5 ½” wide and 5” high; dark-pink satin & lace bedding

BED-SIDE TABLE = opening for books or tissue box!

VANITY = with mirror and two opening drawers (each drawers looks like two drawers) STOOL = pink satin seat

PARLOR STOVE = 8” tall European-style room heater

THRONE or CHAIR = pink satin seat & back

CRADLE = pink satin & fancy lace bedding

TABLE CANDELABRA = three ‘candles’

FLOOR CANDELABRA = five ‘candles’ (center candle is included in baggie; only piece with chipped pastiche – on outside edges of two arms)

SIDE WALLS = 16” long and .” high

BACK WALL = 21 ¾” long and 9 ¼” high, with brocade panels to either side of a centered window; all walls have molding along the top, and two 4 ¼” pieces of vinyl channel holds the side walls to the back wall.

RUG = 9” x 20” velvet & brocade with metal-lace trimming

ERNA MEYER DOLLS = stockinet heads, wrapped wire bodies & white plastic shoes =

            5 ½” PRINCE with Crown (sits well in throne); 5 ¼” GIRL; 5” PAGE BOY

And to finish the setting = 4 ½”gilt pressed-tin frame topped with a crown, Queen’s portrait, and dangling ‘pearl’, to hang on one wall

Fabulous and ‘over-blown’ Rococo in style and design, this is a beautiful set made circa mid-1960s, and ready for play or display; from original-owner, non-smoking home.
