1930's Brunswick Challenger pool table. This Challenger is 4'x8' with drop pockets. It features 1" slate, sturdy frame, polished accents, new rail cushions, Walnut rail tops, new rail sites, and new pockets from Hood Leather Goods. The pool table will also come with any color cloth that the buyer chooses. From the 1939-1940 Billiard Supplies of the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co., page 13: For the most outstanding value in billiard tables, Brunswick offers the Challenger. Its sturdy construction, eye appealing beauty, convenient playing features and lasting quality have never before been attained in such a low priced table! The Challenger is a pride and joy to the room owner who wants "class" at a reasonable price. Crackle varnished to a deep, rich maroon that gives extra durability as well as genuine lasting beauty. Contains every convenience feature for better play. Matched accessories for the Challenger table: Recessed table ball rack: Flush with the rail apron. Four perfectly grooved separate compartments hold 16 regulation pocket balls. Designed to give fingertip ease and efficiency. Optional in place of the Wall Ball Rack. Patent No. 113972. The Brunswick Challenger No. 243, with clean-cut design, chrome ornamented with baked-on maroon crackle finish, at a price that, even under present conditions, makes it the greatest table value in Brunswick history. Walnut rail caps available. Offered in 4x8 pocket style only; 4 1/2 x 9 and 5x10 sizes in carom, pocket and gully styles; also in 4 1/2 x 9 and 5 x 10 sizes for snooker.
