Graciela Gallegos - Mata Ortiz - Geometric Design Olla 

This is a beautiful piece of Mata Ortiz pottery from the well known and highly respected potter Graciela Gallegos.  I bought the piece in 2000 from a gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona.  It is 5.25" tall and 6.0" wide.  It is well signed, as can be seen on the last photograph.  The piece is in great condition.  It has only been on display in a glass enclosed case, out of sunlight, since I bought it.  There is a wonderful write-up on Graciela, and her husband Hector, in the well known Mata Ortiz book "The Many Facies of Mata Ortiz".  They started potting in 1987 and have become one of the most respected couples potting in Mata Ortiz.  Graciela's fine detailed work is highly sought after and is amazing in it's precision and execution.  She must have tremendous patience!
