I am an elementary teacher who teaches 4th grade and tutors grades k through 12. I buy many resources for the children I teach. I hunt the bookstores for good deals for my classroom and the students I tutor. Up for bid is one of my great finds. All of my books and workbooks listed in my auctions are materials I personally recommend for that grade or age level. Each book I list is in limited supply. I try to purchase in bulk, when available, but it is not always possible and I am often unable to find and re-purchase some titles. There are many materials I won't sell, because they do not measure up to my standards or are not good value for the money.

Synopsis
A practical advice book, reference guide, and survival manual all rolled into one, for city dwellers who want to rear happy, healthy, and well-adjusted kids-without moving to the suburbs
Bringing up children in the city is simply not the same as raising them in the 'burbs. Whether you live in New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, Atlanta or Milwaukee, there's less space, more pace, and a whole new set of problems to deal with-from finding good (and affordable) educational options to protecting kids from the dangers of the mean streets. Chockfull of indispensable information, and citified comic relief, The City Parent Handbook is the first comprehensive parenting book addressed specifically to the trials and tribulations-and wonderful opportunities-facing the urban family.
· 7 quick cures for cabin fever that turn a small apartment into a thrilling playground. · Best ways to keep on neighborly terms with nearby apartments when you're the parent of a noisy toddler. · The biggest misconceptions parents have about city caregiving and why a heads-up on those city nuances will make a world of difference in your child's care. · What private school admissions directors look for when deciding whether to admit your child (and what parents do that get them knocked out of the running). · The Guinea Pig v. The Hamster: Discover which one of these makes a great, friendly apartment pet and which is a wretched bore. · Why lead should still be a concern for every city parent and the easy ways to prevent it from being a problem for your child.
In this smart, research-based, tip-filled guide, readers will find answers toall of their urban parenting questions including a few they never would have thought to ask. THE CITY PARENT HANDBOOK is the bible of metropolitan parenting, covering everything from how to squeeze the family possessions into that shoe box of an apartment to learning how to make all the fabulous diversity and culture that attracts urbanites to the city in the first place part of a family plan.
