I found this in a large lot of greeting cards that I purchased from an estate some time ago. I have MANY, MANY more to come. I will be listing them over the course of time until I have no more, so keep your eye open for some really SPECIAL cards to come. The majority of the cards are 75 to 150 years old. Most of the early 1900's are either to or from the same person ~ a boy named Richard Louther. Many are also to or from another boy named Ralph Moyer. If you see any penciled prices written on any of my cards for sale, please know that those are old selling prices, and do not reflect today's market.
Very cute, large mechanical FOOTBALL Valentine!
In tiny black letters at very bottom right corner reads "Printed in Germany".
c1930's.
Card is on thick card-stock paper and very glossy when turned to the light.
Shows two young boys kicking and catching the football, which has a heart on it, wearing old type uniforms.
When you pull on the green bush on the right side, it moves the left player's leg out to "kick", as the ball moves to the right, while the right player's upper body leans forward to catch the ball!
It is in exceptional, superb condition after all these years, including very vivid colors!
Only shows some very minor corner wear at bottom corners.
Measures 6" inches (not counting the green bush), x 4 & 7/8" tall.
Card reads "To my Valentine".
Signed on the back and has an "easel" on the back to stand it up.
In excellent, NEAR-MINT condition with exception of two light paper peels on back bottom.
A fabulous piece to display in your personal collection or give as a gift to a collector.
It will ship in a clear poly bag with rigid cardboard, in an envelope, very well packed. I will include insurance in shipping costs as well, so thank you for taking the shipping cost into consideration.
