This large-sized new magnet pictures Brownie figurines.  In the 1879-1910 period, Brownies were as popular as today's Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang.  Pictured here from left to right: Chinaman, The Dude, Sailor and English Bobby.  Brownies were created by Palmer Cox (more info below) based on his childhood recollections of Scottish folktales about woodland fairies.  In the hands of Cox's fertile imagination, Brownies were adventuresome imps who explored the world.

Depicted on the magnet is a rare porcelain figurine diorama from around 1893, believed to have been produced by Gebruber Heubach.

Magnet size: 4” x 5” (10.16cm x 12.70cm)

Palmer Cox (1840-1924) was a Canadian illustrator and author that created the collection of elf like characters known as Brownies.  His Brownies were featured in books, magazines and comic strips, and used in advertising endorsements for a variety of products from sewing thread to marmalade.  Today collectors of all ages snap up Brownie memorabilia, still drawn to their cheerful smiles and impish antics.

A fellow Ebayer, CENTURYTOYS of the Covered Bridge Country Store in Pepperell, Massachusetts has kindly allowed me to use their exceptional photo and research about these Cox Brownie figurines.  The Covered Bridge Country Store offers a potpourri of antiques, collectibles and hand crafted gems for the kitchen, bath and garden.
Email me for a link to their nice website or find them on Google at coveredbridgecountrystore.

See other Palmer Cox Brownie magnets in my store.  You pay shipping for only one magnet in a batch (details below) so pile 'em on!

Can't wait for the listing to end?  No problem.
See my Ebay store for additional quantities of this magnet offered with BUY IT NOW, so you don't need to wait, as well as to see nearly a thousand other designs.

You pay shipping for only one magnet per shipment (details below), so the more you buy with each purchase, the more you save.

Please be advised that none of my magnets are 3 dimensional objects.   None light up, make noise or tell time. They are flat pictures printed on flat flexible 30mil magnetic vinyl with a protective satin-finish top coating and hand finished edges.  They are roughly twice the thickness and strength of magnetic material found at office supply stores, and the average size magnet holds 1-2 sheets of paper.

Q.  Will the magnet stick to my....?

A.  I'd like to have you as a customer, but only if you know what you are buying.  The truth is that magnets do not stick to all metals (and anyone who tells you that they do is dopey or duping).   For example, magnets do not stick to stainless steel or brass.   Click here to learn more about what kinds of metals are magnet friendly and what kinds are not.

Custom-made magnet in every order.

Unless I'm too busy to breathe, a custom-made magnet ships with every order.  The magnet subject matter is  based on whatever I can guess that particular buyer might like, as suggested by their Ebay trades or other Google-able info.

It's great fun to give an item that makes people smile, and to know a tiny bit about the remarkable diversity that makes up the magnet-loving public.

There have been collectors of all manner of things, as well as fashion models, cartoonists, pet lovers, parents, roller coaster groupies, gay activists, explorers, historians, coaches, political activists, engineers, nuns, ranchers, artists, executives, designers, educators, rockers, gays, scrap bookers, Lutherans, runners, kids, secretaries, witches, environmentalists, priests,

musicians, mountain climbers, land developers, poets, Dead Heads, preachers, film makers,  jewelry makers, programmers, scientists, lecturers, actors, retirees, teens, environmentalists, lobbyists, volunteers, Catholics, entrepreneurs, physicians, miniature donkey breeders, bloggers, performers, bird watchers, nature preservationists and authors.

In the process of making custom magnets, I'll never suffer from on-the-job boredom because I'm constantly learning new tidbits.  For example, just in the last few hours I read about a family that breeds miniature donkeys, and about a pair of folk singers who've recorded an entire CD of songs about food.   And a hero who gives lectures and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise money for the learning disabled.

Humans are pretty keen :-)

Q.  What about durability?

A.  To clean, wipe with a damp cloth. Do not soak, use abrasives or apply cleaning products containing bleach or solvents.  I've run them through the dishwasher without disaster, but they'll last longer if you keep them out of puddles and away from puppy teeth.

Q. Do you offer combined shipping?

A. Absolutely!
You pay shipping for only one magnet (the one with the highest priced shipping of those you've selected - see examples below) and shipping is free on any other magnets (provided they are ordered, paid for and shipped at the same time -- no problem if you need a couple days to make your selections but please make just one payment, to help keep my Paypal fees down).

Shipping Cost Example 1

Magnets are a fun pick-me-up...

...for the kitchen...

....at school...

...the office...

...or at lunch.

Q.  Packaging?

A.  Most magnet orders are shipped by 1st class mail, in standard business envelopes (so watch your mail and don't throw the envelope away, mistaking it for a bill or junk mail.)  For moisture protection, they are packed inside a poly bag, and to prevent bending are sandwiched between sheets of cardboard.

Q. What if I don't receive my magnet?

Q. What if I don't like it?

Q. When do you leave feedback?

The answers to these and other questions are found here.

Q. Can you personalize or make custom magnets?

A.
Happy to.
Simple text changes to stock magnets are free.  (Please email your instructions prior to payment so I don't overlook them.)  Magnets made using your photos, if they can be emailed, usually cost only $1 more than stock magnets; a bit more if I need to scan your snapshots.

Sorry, I do not sell magnets of copyrighted images unless you are the copyright holder.

Shipping speed
I strive to ship within 24 hours of payment but circumstances sometimes stretch that to 36-48 hours.  If you are buying for a special date, please let me know.
