You are bidding on a framed print of an Alfred Birdsey watercolor. This is a wonderful, high quality print of colorful Southampton, Bermuda with the Gibb's Hill Lighthouse in the background ( Possibly viewed from Sinky Bay Beach ). Sailboats are anchored in the bay and cozy homes dot the hillsides up to the oldest cast iron lighthouse in the world built in 1846. Painting is signed "Birdsey" lower right. Colors are bright and vivid and the print truly captures the most subtle brush strokes. A great way to get a stunning Birdsey for a fraction of the price of an original painting! Print area is approx. 7 1/2" X 9 1/2" Gold metal frame measures 14 3/8" X 11 1/2" X 3/4" with an off white matte. There are some scuff marks on the frame front. Birdsey is a listed Cape Cod Mass. and Bermudan artist very popular for his brilliant abstract impressionist seascapes and village scenes. He was English born in 1912 and moved to Bermuda when he was 7. His impressionistic landscapes and views of Bermuda are world-renowned. |
