Kamaka Soprano Ukulele, Gold Label 1950s-60s Solid Koa Vintage Antique

Item specifics | ||||

Aloha! Up for auction is this fine Kamaka ukulele, soprano size, with a Gold Label inside the sound hole and a double K logo on the peghead. These markings were used on Kamaka instruments from 1954 to 1969. (See the "Dating Your Uke" link on the Kamaka website, at http://www.kamakahawaii.com/ukedating.html). Made of solid Hawaiian koa wood, with the curved fingerboard extension that appeared in the late '50s or early '60s. The finish is nice, with a warm satin sheen. A sweet player, it has the sound you'd expect from a Kamaka of this vintage: big and warm with nice sustain. Just restrung with a new set of D'Addario J65 clear nylons. The overall length is 20-1/2 inches; the body length 9-3/16 inches; and the width at the widest point of the lower bout is 6-5/8 inches. Issues: A few dings and blemishes (see photos); a repaired side crack, cleated and tight (see photo 6); and a repaired hairline crack on the top (see photo 10). Sold as is, with no warranties or returns. I ship only to the U.S. mainland, Hawaii and Alaska, via UPS Ground ($15.00) with an extra $25.00 for shipment to Hawaii or Alaska. (Sorry, international buyers.) No P.O. boxes. Mahalo for looking. |
