Item contains MERCURY....As do most quality slip rings. Regardless of what some may advertise my opinion is that this item will be safe 30 feet in the air on your wind turbine. I do however strongly discourage cracking the unit open, taking the mercury out and eating it. You probably shouldn't inject it into you body with a syringe either.....otherwise I think you and your family will be safe with this product

When transported by ground, there is no special handling or hazardous designation required.
