"Blue Belle"
Hi and welcome to my Spring/Easter listing of this great primitive folk art bunny rabbit hare. Bluebelle has been heavily worn and mended and resembles an animal that might have belonged to a little child from years ago that they drug everywhere they went. I'm sure you can relate to doing that as a child.
Belle is 19" tall and wears a robin's egg plaid jumper with a plain muslin blouse underneath. Two mismatched buttons hold the straps to the jumper in place.
She wears a simple cotton apron which is handstitched on the bib in light blue to read "HARE" and has several holes here and there to resemble a stuffed animal left behind from centuries ago.
Bluebelle has an aged cotton body which was heavily and firmly stuffed with rags for a great old fashioned look and heavy feel of a toy made years ago.
Her fur head has been heavily aged, torn and mended. She has a handstitched waxed nose and several whiskers. Her eyes are beads which were handstitched in place.
Lastly she wears a blue ticking striped prairie style bonnet with antique crochet lace around the brim. It ties into a bow underneath her chin. Her tall ears peek out of both sides and are wired so they can be posed as well.
This design has been heavily stained and comes signed/dated as an original, one of a kind collectible design which is not a toy nor intended for children's use or play.
