This is a Vintage Ready Reference Handbook about the Air Force Astronaut Manuvering Unit developed by the Astronautics Division of the LTV Corporation. Item is dated as Second Edition May 27, 1966. " The AMU contains the elements of a full-size spacecraft. It has a propulsion system for space operations, an automatic attitude stabilization system to hold the astronaut in a chosen position, two-way communications with the parent spacecraft, telemetry for collecting biomedical data on the astronaut and information on the AMU systems, a malfunction detection system and status displays to monitor AMU systems, plus oxygen, pressure and temperature systems to provide a comfortable suit environment in the vacuum and temperature extremes of space". This booklet covers all aspects of this unique system. There are 86 pages with literature and many pictures with descriptions and diagrams. Item is in great shape with no folds or tears. Original owners name is written in top right corner of front cover. Booklet has been stored in a box for 40+ years. I combine shipping.
