This is a classic book on Leonardo da Vinci written by one of the world's great art historians - Kenneth Clark, Lord Clark of Saltwood. It is a first edition, second printing, which is a scarce edition to find from 1940. Bound in the original publisher's orange buckram, it is one of the most respected books on da Vinci. It was printed in England by Cambridge University Press and contains 68 high quality b/w plates. Please see all photographs in this listing which also shows his bookplate and the actual book. Included with this da Vinci book is a later book (1977) Lord Clark wrote called Animals and Men - on animals in art as reflected in Western art from prehistory to the present day. It has 219 plates. It was published to help support the World Wildlife Fund.
