Yaquinto publishes a line of games of varying complexity and detail to suit all wargaming interests. Compared to other wargames, the level of complexity of this game is rated as follows:

o   Level Two: This game falls in the lower end of average wargame complexity, being fairly easy to master, but having fairly detailed mechanics. (Basic Game – an introduction to the mechanics with one quick scenario.)

o   Level Three: This game falls in the upper end of average wargame complexity, requiring time to master and having detailed mechanics. (Advanced Game – detailed rules for infantry and their supporting weapons.)

o   Level Four: This game is designed for experienced players and is very complex and detailed in its treatment. Recommended for veteran players with a high interest in the subject matter. (Optional Rules – additional detail for infantry and rules for using vehicles.)

·       Close Assault covers the organizations, weapons and vehicles for six different countries – France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the U.S.S.R, and the U.S.A. The squads and their weapons have unique capabilities like their historical counterparts. The soldiers can be standing, crouching, or prone, and each posture affects their vulnerability and lines of sight. Depending on the detail you favor, there are rules covering hidden movement, weapon reliability, snipers, morale, individual personal characteristics, leadership, wounds, fires, melees, climbing, jumping, blast effects, cavalry, bicycles, anti-tank guns, grenades, and more.”

·       Close Assault addresses the challenges of squad level tactics in an era of massive firepower – the problems of command and control, and of integrating different weapons into effective tactical combinations. You may know everything that’s going on, but the game’s ‘soldiers’ may not, and often react accordingly. ‘Random sequencing’ mechanics simulate simultaneous movement, the fog of war, and combat friction without the bother of written orders. The excitement and interest levels high, with victory going to the player can best perform in an impossible environment. “
