miskatonic worm specimen 1

From the Miskatonic University Special Collections, a preserved specimen collected during the ill-fated Congo expedition of 1927.   Dr. James Williams of the Archeology Department was the driving force behind the effort to explore sites described in certain esoteric myths.   The expedition ultimately found those fragmentary tales to be false, but in the course of their travels along the river basin they collected a treasure trove of plant and animal specimens.

The specimen jar is approximately 4" high and 3.5" across and features an intact wax seal.  The worm-like creature inside measures roughly 10" long and is covered in small horn-like projections.  The specimen's head measures approximately 1" in diameter and has two rows of gripping teeth surrounding the central mouth.  Directly behind the mouthparts are a ring of cilia or tentacles.  The yellow preservative fluid contains small bits of organic detritus from the worm, as would be expected in a specimen of this age.  The jar comes with a protective wooden storage box measuring 5.5" high and 4.75" wide and deep.

This preserved specimen would be a wonderful addition to a mad scientist's lab or steampunk-style Wunderkammer.  The worm is made of latex, silicone, nylong, and resin and will stand up to extremely close examination.  To give you an idea of the level of detail, the mouth measures just over 1" in diameter.  I've included some extreme closeups so you can get a good idea of how small the detail work is.   Both the specimen jar and it's protective box have been appropriately weathered for something that's been sitting on a shelf for close to a century.  The jar fits inside the storage box and is surrounded by vintage-style packing material.

Payment via PayPal within three days of the auction's end is greatly appreciated, but I'm happy to wait the full seven days if necessary.  Just drop me a line at your convenience to give me a heads-up.  The item will be shipped via First Class Mail for $7.50 to domestic US customers, or via First Class International mail with a full and truthful Customs Declaration for $9.50 for customers in Canada.  I apologize for the high shipping, but the prop is rather heavy for it's size because of the preservative fluid.  That and the fact the jar is glass means it will  require extensive padding.  Insurance on the package is at your discretion.  I'm more than happy to save you a few bucks by combining shipping if you win multiple auctions. Unfortunately, the item cannot be shipped outside of North America because of transit restrictions on paranormal artifacts.
