Publisher's Note New Zealand botanists introduce these dramatic ferns dating back to the Jurassic period, but still evolving. They describe their life cycle, ethnobotany, increasing use in landscaping, and species from A-Z. They also list tree ferns by geographic region and species that pose nomenclature challenges. The 131 color plates feature plants from Australia to Hawaii. Large teaches at the UNITEX Institute of Technology, Auckland; Braggins retired from the U. of Auckland. All rights reserved. Here is a great opportunity to be able to add to your botanic literature collection. I purchased this book when it came out in 2004 and have looked at it probably ten times. At this time, I have so many botanic books, I have run out of space to keep them all. Check out some of my other auctions for other "must haves" for your collection. This book is in excellent condition and has 359 pages of literally hundreds of beautiful color prints and line drawings. Tons of information and is easy enough to read that most people interested in botany will understand. Size is 10 1/2 x 7 3/4 x and is 1 1/2 inches thick! It's a big one and weighs 2 pounds, 9 ounces! |
