Aztext Press Publishers Cam and Michelle Mather live off-the-electricity grid and produce all their own electricity. In the summer of 2007 they installed a 1 Kilowatt wind turbine so that they had a "hybrid" system, once which has both solar and wind power.
The addition of the new wind turbine has made a huge reduction in their carbon footprint, as they rarely have to run their fossil-fuel powered generator any more, since the months with the least sun tend to have more wind.
They recorded the complete installation process and have produced our "Home-Scale Wind Turbine Installation" DVD.
Using a standard tubular-steel titl-up tower kit, common with many home sized wind turbines, the Mathers found that manuals can sometimes be confusing especially for people who learn by seeing how things work. So the DVD takes the viewer step-by-step through the entire installation process, from choosing a site, to running wire, assembling the tower and finally using a winch for the final lift.
It also includes lot's of tips and techniques not usaully provided in the manuals, such as building re-bar cages for the anchor holes and using conduit for wire runs.
This is a must watch for anyone planning on putting a wind turbine to learn the process and the proper techniques for a safe and successful installation.
"Living with Renewable Energy" is the companion DVD to Bill Kemp's best selling "The Renewable Energy Handbook." It gives a guided tour of Bill and Lorraine's off-the-electricity grid home, and shows how normal life can be while using a fraction of the energy of a typical North American home, and generating all your own power from the sun and wind.
Our biodiesel video is a one hour tour of the biodiesel production facility that Author William "Bill" Kemp set up in his garage. It takes you step-by-step through the process of turning waste vegetable oil into ASTM quality biodiesel. The emphasis in Bill's production process is safety first, and producing high quality biodiesel while doing the right thing for the environment.
It also includes a detailed a 30 minute interview with Bill where he deals with energy issues relating to biofuels and with biodiese specifically.
Today as energy and food costs continue to rapidly rise, there's never been a better time to grow some of your own vegetables. For many, turning that backyard into a vegetable garden is a challenging task.
Our gardening DVD "Seven Easy Steps to Your Own Backyard Product Department" makes it easy. We go through step by step the simplest ways to turn lawns into gardens and how to build up and condition soil to prepare it to grow vegetables. We cover all of the techniques you'll need to maximize the output of your garden, even if you have a confined space. We deal with the safe and organic treatment of pests, how to deal with water issues which can be challenging in many locales, and numerous issues with the production of food.
Finally we show you how to harvest and store those vegetables to extend your eating season, and help offset some of those inevitable price increases that rapidly increasing energy costs will bring.
This DVD is fun, informative and full of gardening gems to help motivate you to get growing! Over two hours of gardening knowledge.
