 If you own a small Honda Generator, you know that changing the oil can be quite a challenge. Just Google "Honda EU2000i messy oil change", You are not alone, everyone makes a mess. 

The first time I attempted to change oil in my EU2000i I made a mess. I've tried different methods of keeping oil from running down the outside and inside of the case and dripping all over my workbench, but I did not have much luck with that folded piece of cardboard that fell into the drain pan.  If you don't clean the inside of the case, the residual oil will eventually ooze down to the rubber foot and onto whatever surface the generator is placed upon. Usually, this ends up being your garage floor, the inside of your trunk, or your tent floor.

I finally decided I would devise a better way, so I made a few of these and "lent" them to family and friends for thier EU2000i generators. I called this thing my little "Oil Changer" for lack of a better term or description. I tried knurling these a few tears ago. I decided against it due to the fact that you just can't wipe it clean, try wiping something knurled with a paper towel. Knurling is a magnet for Dust and Dirt, and it scratches the inside of the generator. I'm not some "Johnn come lately, I'm the guy that invented and tested this unique product.

This product is machined from SOLID 6061-T6 Aluminum bar stock. This will last longer than your generator. Should you ever need another O-ring, your local hardware store sells them for less than 25 cents. This product is MADE IN THE USA with American made stock, tooling and machinery. Of course the generator is not included. This auction is for one (1) tube.

Changing your EU2000i oil has never been easier or cleaner

IF YOUR GENERATOR HAS BEEN RUNNING - TURN IT OFF -  LET IT COOL FOR 30 MINUTES - HOT OIL CAN BURN - SECURE THE GAS CAP - TURN THE VENT LEVER OFF

I have included a copy of the page from the Honda EU2000i owners manual that includes oil change instructions, drawings and oil capacitiy (converted to US ounces) if you have lost or misplaced your manual.

Remove the side cover, a US Quarter coin works great! 

Remove the Dipstick

Screw the OIL CHANGR into the dipstick threads finger tight, the O-Ring seal will not leak.

Slowly tilt the generator, to empty the oil into a container or drain pan,

Once the generator is empty, you can tilt it the opposite direction, and use the OIL CHANGR  as a funnel.

DO NOT OVERFILL YOUR GENERATOR....MOST OIL CONTAINERS ARE MARKED ON OUNCES ON THE SIDE......Make sure you know how much oil your unit takes. Overfilling can damage the unit. HONDA LISTS THIS CAPACITY AS 0.42 US QUART IN THE OWNERS MANUAL - THIS CONVERTS TO 13.5 US OUNCES

The oil capacity of an EU2000i is 13.5 ounces (just a little less than 1/2 quart)

The Oil capacity of an EU1000i is 8 ounces, (you get 4 oil changes to a quart!)

Once the  proper amout of oil have been installed, remove the OIL CHANGR and screw the dipstick back in.

You may need a paper towel to clean up a drop or two of oil once the tool is removed and to clean the tool itself, or you can use whatever you normally use to clean up the funnel that you would have used.

The OIL CHANGER will STORE inside of an EU2000i as can be seen in the photos. Storing it with the THREADED END UP will eliminate any rattles.

I don't know what a shop charges to change oil on one of these small units. I do know that we went 15 days without power after hurricane Wilma. My generator ran 12 to 16 hours a day and I would change oil every 4 days. I could have gone longer between oil changes but a quart of oil is $3.29 (two oil changes)  and my Honda generator cost well over $1000. Maximum actual oil change and cleanup time was 10 minutes. I'll have try to have something up on Youtube in a week, so you can see how easy and fast this really is.
