Outstanding lithograph of life in the kibbutz by important Israeli artist Yohanan Simon (1904-1979). The following biography is from IFPDA (http://www.ifpda.org/content/node/2070)  :

Yohanan Simon was born in Berlin in 1905. He studied in Frankfurt with Beckmann, at the Art Academy in Munich and at the Ecole Beaux-Arts in Paris. During the late 1920s, he joined a circle of young painters that included Andre Derain. In 1934, Simon worked for the journal, “Vogue” in New York. Simon lived in Paris, for a time, before immigrating to Palestine in 1936. He was a member of Kibbutz Gan- Shmuel until 1953 and he was active in the Hagana. He also participated in the War of Liberation. He traveled extensively in South America and the United States from 1954-1955 and in 1961. He also visited Europe in 1958. In 1962 Simon moved to Herzelia and he died in Israel in 1976.

Simon's early work --- through the late 1950s --- explored kibbutz life in a social realist style. His later work became more abstract. Simon's work in major collections worldwide.

This lithograph is signed lower left and is numbered 14/200. It is inscribed in Hebrew lower right. It measures 14.75" x 19.75" (sight size). It is in very good condition, framed in an older frame and mat (mat should be replaced and there is spotting on the inside of the glass).
