Polyform Sculpey Flexible Push Mold - Infant Baby Doll Size of completed doll - 4.5" (11.5 cm)
Manufacturer Info: We do the detailed sculpting for you with these highly detailed doll
molds! Use these molds to create professionally sculpted, highly
detailed dolls in just minutes. The infant mold includes: torso, arms,
legs, a sleeping baby head and an awake baby head. We have included a
detailed instruction sheet that walks you step by step through creating a
highly detailed baby doll.
Basic Instructions: 1. Start with clean hands and work area. Use wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil for a working surface. 2. Condition clay by kneading in your hands. 3. Use a paintbrush to dust the mold with cornstarch and tap off excess. 4. Roll clay ball/log in the size of the impression you are going to make. For the face make a point on the end of the ball. Press the pointed end into the nose area of the mold. 5. Press clay completely into mold. Pinch sides of clay towards center. 6. To release, gently lift clay from the mold edge. The mold is flexible, so you can press the opposite side of the mold to release your piece. If clay is difficult to remove, put mold in refrigerator or freezer for 90 seconds, then remove piece. Mold all pieces before assembly.
Assembling Infant Mold: 1. Cut 1-½ in (38 mm) length of 18-gauge wire. Insert 1 in (25 mm) into the torso from the neck. Leave ½ in (13 mm) showing to insert into the head. 2. Use needle tool to define facial features and open up nostrils. 3. Add the ears to the side of the head by pressing them into place and smoothing contact points. For proper placement, the top of the ears should be even with the eyes. Use needle tool to open up the inner curves of the ear to form a realistic looking ear. 4. Roll small ball of clay and add to back of torso to form buttocks. 5. Insert the remaining ½ in (13 mm) of wire from the torso into the head. 6. To create finished leg, shape excess clay into back of leg to form ankle, calf, knee and thigh; smooth any seams. 7. To create finished arm, shape excess clay into back of arm; smooth any seams. 8. Cut away excess clay from hand. Use a needle tool to define details in the hand and feet including nails. 9. After limbs have been attached smooth all contact points and check details. Pose your doll before baking. Make sure to support the doll in the oven so it will bake in the position you desire. You can prop the doll in desired position with items that will withstand baking temperatures. You can also bake the doll on fiberfill to avoid shiny areas or depressions. 10. Bake molded piece according to clay manufacturer’s instructions. DO NOT BAKE CLAY IN MOLD.
Finishing Touches: 1. Water based acrylic paints work great to bring your doll’s face to life. Make sure to allow each coat to dry before adding more color. 2. Using a soft paint brush, mix a small amount of flesh pink paint to blush on cheeks, chin and forehead. Further blushing can be added to the rest of the body wherever you wish to add color. 3. Line around the eyes with brown and paint the eyebrows using a very fine liner brush. 4. The eyes should be painted with acrylic paints that have been thinned out. Start by painting the outer iris in a dark, almost black color. Fill in the actual eye color of your choice within the dark outer circle, leave just a thin outline of the dark circle. Paint a black dot in the center of the eye for the pupil, you may add a tiny spec of white for highlight. When fully dry, glaze with Sculpey gloss glaze for a wet look. 5. To add hair, use strong white glue. Starting from the bottom apply thin line of glue and press in small sections of hair. Allow each section to dry before adding next section. 6. Add clothing and accessories to complete your doll.
